Lady Saylan is a noble within Thavnair, specifically a Merchant Princess. Her specialty is selling perfumes, skin care, make-up, and other beauty products. You could be someone looking to purchase, or already a client of hers! You could also be someone looking to collaborate or someone who sees her as a rival.Aether Researcher/Occultist:
Jasmine is a researcher of personal aether, and is especially skilled in the art of working with both corporeal and memory aether(the physical body and the mind). Much of her aether research goes into her alchemical creations, especially her specialized inks, make-up and perfumes.She is also a rather well known occultist, often collecting items that hard to get if not near impossible to find. Some say she might even forge some of these items herself with her specialized ink, but these are mere rumors.PIctomancer:
Though she doesn't seem like it with her much darker aesthetic compared to most who reside within Thavnair, Lady Saylan is a skilled pictomancer. She can often be found going to far off places in order to encounter new places that offer inspiration for her pictomancy, and her products themselves seem to work as a foci for the very spells that she weaves with such an art, or are themselves the result of her practice.Criminal:
Lady Saylan was not always a part of the Noble House Saylan in Thavnair. In fact, though she never mentions this publicly, before her marriage, she was forced to live as a slave before being selected by her late husband to be one of his concubines in his harem. During that time she led quite a different life than the one of "luxury" she lives now, and though she might publicly state that she's put it behind her, she still keeps and maintains many of those connections....much to the chagrin of her late husband's family.She's stated before that she sells to anyone and everyone who can afford it, but sometimes her products aren't always sold for gil, as other forms of payment are more than acceptable to one like herself.Secret Stock:
Lady Saylan has her own personal stock of items that go beyond normal beauty products, selling everything from old magitek parts to aether crystals used for occult rituals, poisons, and anything that might be considered "illicit".These products are typically not sold to the average individual, though if one know what to ask for, they can gain access to this private collection of items. The price for these items are often not usually gil however, so be prepared to pay a very hefty price for what is asked for.(The following Hook is a spoiler for Jasmine's story.)
Family Rebel:
Though she is considered a Merchant Princess, she has rebelled against her in-laws and their wants. She believes that they are stuck in the past and aren't willing to do what's necessary for the family or House Saylan to survive. Many of her family has fallen into debt after the End of Days, and they are all looking for someone to blame, which makes her an easy scapegoat as they believe in more traditional alchemy than her more...uniquely modified alchemical products.She does not publicize it, but if found out that she is opening up businesses and selling her wares(especially her secret wares) to less than legitimate clients, further conflict with her family. Someone could be in support of this, or consider her a stain on Thavnairian soil the way some of her family does.

(if one is working within the framework of FFXIV's job system to explain Jasmine's abilities, this is the breakdown)Pictomancer: Leaned early on in life after being made a concubine, using her cosmetics as a foci for her aetherical abilities as they served as the "paints" for her her pictomancy.Red Mage: Learned after marrying her husband, who himself was a red mage. While it largely focuses on balancing one's personal aether, Jasmine used it's manipulation of one's personal aether into black or white magic to instead focus more on her pictomancy abilities, making it possible to repaint her own aether in a sense. She can also do this to others, hence her ability to manipulate memories and alter forms(within reason on the latter).Dancer: Look, she's from Thavnair, it just makes sense. There's also the fact that Dancers learn how to tether their aether to others and objects, which she applies to her ink, using it as a way to tether herself to objects or people.
